Privacy Policy

At Conservation Minnesota Voter Center we promise to provide information to all Minnesotans that is trustworthy and credible, these beliefs are reflected in our effort to protect the personal data collected on behalf of our organizations. To protect privacy and to provide assurance to our donors and network of members, we have implemented the following policy, which applies to all websites maintained by the Conservation Minnesota Voter Center family of organizations (including Conservation Minnesota, Conservation Minnesota Voter Center, and Climate Vote MN):

Personally Identifiable Information:

We may collect personally identifiable information from you including your name, email address, mobile telephone number, or credit card information when provided to us through forms on our website. We use your personal information to send you emails and text messages, respond to questions or requests, and process online donations. If your personally identifiable information is collected, it may be shared within our family of organizations for the purposes of responding to any comments or questions you submit and to provide any follow-up information about our organizations and our issues. Your information may also be shared with trusted outside vendors when necessary to fulfill any request you have made to us, such as charging your membership dues to your credit card. We will not share, sell, or rent your information to third parties for marketing purposes or text messaging. We reserve the right to release personally identifiable information about you when necessitated by law or court order.

Opting Out:

All of our online communications contain opt out instructions and links at the bottom of the email or instructions within text messages. You can always “opt out” of Conservation Minnesota Voter Center’s online communications to keep from receiving unwanted emails and text messages. To opt out of receiving online communications, you may also send an email with your request to info@cmvotercenter.org or by calling us at 612.767.2444. Be aware that our sites link to other websites and we cannot control and are not responsible for the content or the privacy policies of those websites.

Email Lists:

Users who sign up for our email lists by taking one of our actions, donating to Conservation Minnesota Voter Center, completing a survey, or otherwise opting into the list will receive regular communications from our organization. Each email communication will provide information on how to unsubscribe from this service. We will not sell or rent your email address or other personally identifiable information, including phone number, to any commercial users or marketing firms.

With respect to cookies, flash cookies, and web beacons:

We may use cookies, flash cookies, and web beacons to store visitors’ preferences, record session information, alert visitors to new areas that we think might be of interest to them when they return to our site and record past activity at a site in order to provide better service when visitors return to our site. Be aware that our online partners who provide certain features related to our websites may utilize cookies in other ways.

Browser Information:

If you visit the websites of any of the Conservation Minnesota Voter Center family of organizations to read or download information, we may collect and store the following general information: your computer’s IP address, browser type, and operating system, the date and time you access our site, the Internet address of the website from which you linked directly to our site, the search terms used in connecting to our site, and the various pages that you visit while on our site. We use this information to optimize user experiences by analyzing trends, gathering broad demographic information, and monitoring site traffic patterns that help us further develop and improve the design and functionality of our site.

Publicly Sharing Your Comments:

We often receive information from website visitors who have successfully participated in our programs and/or used our resources. In certain instances, we would like to publicly share the comments and stories we receive by posting this information on one of our websites. We will not, however, publicly share ANY information we receive on any of our websites without first receiving the express consent of the individual who submitted the information.

Protecting Our Children:

Conservation Minnesota Voter Center is concerned about the safety and privacy of children online. Because of this, we will make all efforts to comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). COPPA and its accompanying FTC regulations establish United States federal law that protects the privacy of children using the Internet. We do not and will not knowingly contact or collect personal information from children under 13 and our website is directed to people who are at least 13 years of age or older.

Other Security Measures:

We want to provide Conservation Minnesota Voter Center members and other supporters with a secure experience whether they are renewing a membership, making a donation, taking a survey, or taking action. While no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of personal information, we use all reasonable means to safeguard the privacy of your personal information. When our forms ask users to enter sensitive information (such as credit card number), that information is encrypted and is protected with one of the best encryption methods in the industry today, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). While on a secure page, such as our membership form, the lock icon on Web browsers such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, as opposed to un-locked, or open, when you are just ‘surfing’.

Policy Revisions:

We reserve the right to periodically amend this privacy policy and as such revisions to our privacy policy will be made on this page. This policy was last modified on April 6, 2024 with all changes made effective as of that date.
